2011 Geiger Mustang GT

Although Ford has a strong handle on the American Muscle Car title with the 2011 Mustang GT, the car is not just for the United States.  A foreign tuner known as Geiger Cars has announced their own special edition 2011 Mustang GT, crammed full of goodies, including a super charger.

Go fast goodies on the 2011 Mustang tuned by Geiger include a 2.3 liter super charger that pushes the 5.0 engine to 500 horsepower.  In addition, Geiger has removed the speed limiter and claim a top speed now of up 170 mph.

In addition to power add ons, Geiger has outfitted the 2011 Mustang with some new shoes.  The rims are called OZ Ultralegerra and are extremely light weight, but not small on size.  Wheel sizes for the front are 8.5″ x 20″ and 10″x20″ in the back.  The wheels set the 2011 Mustang GT off from the rest of the pack and will hopefully continue to popularize the Pony car in Europe.

2011 Mustang GT Direct Fuel Injection?

It’s the first I’ve heard of an upgrade coming to an already massively upgraded engine, direct fuel injection for the new 5.0?  According to an author over at TheTruthAboutcars.com, he’s warning new Mustang buyers to hold off on dropping the cash on a new 5.0 powered 2011 Mustang Gt.  The reason, he claims, is that Ford will be upgrading the motor again, this time with direct fuel injection, in the near future.

The proof of upcoming direct fuel injection is in a photo taken from the New York Auto Show.  The pic indicates that there is a divot or place in the block to allow easy adaption to a new fuel supply.  Going from the typical manifold fuel injection to direct fuel injection into the cylinder wall will provide increased horsepower and even increased efficiency.  Sounds like a HUGE shoe to fill, considering that Ford has already proved they can get 26+ mpg on the new 400 horsepower 5.0 engine.

At this point it’s obviously just speculation and the picture taken is only from an automotive show, not directly of a torn down 5.0 motor.  Who’s to say that this divot or bump in the casting is even on an actual 5.0 motor?  Personally I’m holding out on actual proof, rather than speculating, no matter how appealing it may be.  Perhaps Ford was scared that Chevy was going to out do the Mustang, so rushed the already awesome 5.0.

2014 will be the 50th Anniversary for the Mustang, which would indicate a good time to throw out another awesome upgrade.  But, who really wants to wait that long for a little extra efficiency and power when you can have the power house that is the 2011 Mustang Gt now?  Not me.

First Super Charger For 2011 Mustang GT

ProCharger has tested and released the very first super charger for the 2011 Mustang GT 5.0.  The ProCharger is considered to be the first to market for the 2011 Mustang, because the only other supercharger available now is for the Shelby, which sports a 5.4 liter V8 instead of a 5.0.  ProCharger feels that not only are they the first to market, but because of their 16+ years of experience int eh forced induction market, that theirs will remain the top charger for the new Mustang.

The new supercharger is built around the P-1SC-1 charger, which features an 8 rib drive capable of pushing 7 psi of boost.  This extremely conservative boost figure is capable of adding a whopping 140 hp to your already very capable 5.0 liter engine.

Flavors available for the new ProCharger kit are an HO Intercooled System and available is a complete Tuner Kit.  The Tuner Kit comes with every 2011 Mustang part necessary to install the super charger and start hitting the streets.  Items like a air-to-air intercooler, tubing, brackets, 53 lb injectors, bypass valve, and even a computer programmer comes with the 2011 Mustang GT Tuner Kit.

Be prepared to spend upwards of $5,000-6,000 for this 2011 Mustang 5.0 super charger.

Steeda Cold Air Intake Now Available

Steeda has announced the release of their Velocity CAI intake for the 2011 Mustang GT.  Although the research and development took place long before Steeda could get their hands on the new 5.0, their computer assisted design has been spot on.

Like other cold air intakes, the Steeda Velocity cold air intake for the 2011 Mustang allows for easier breathing and smoother air flow into the 5.0 liter engine.  Thanks to the colder air, the condensed air provides for higher horsepower and torque numbers.  To aid in keeping the air cool, Steeda has provided the air intake with a stainless steel shield, which prevents the heat from the engine from seeping back into the intake.

The Steeda CAI tube is referred to as a ProFlow and has been designed to provide the least amount of restriction on the air as it passes through the filter and into the intake.  Although you will see immediate benefits in power numbers by adding the Steeda cold air intake, Steeda still recommends a custom tune be installed along with their bolt on mod.  Specifically, Steeda has partnered with SCT to create custom computer tunes to get the most out of the new 2011 Mustang CAI.

The Steeda Velocity Cold Air Intake combined with an SCT tune has reportedly provided an additional 44 horsepower and 52 ft-lb of torque.

According to Steeda: Steeda’s new Cold Air Kit for the S197 produces the greatest power gains of any Cold Air Kit on the market. Testing has shown increases of up to 38 HP and 30 ft lbs of Torque to the rear wheels with Steeda’s Cold Air Kit combined with our Custom SCT Tune. Steeda’s lifetime filter can be cleaned and re-oiled, but the big news here is that we’ve streamlined the airflow in the S197 Mustang to the point that a computer re-flash isn’t just an option, it’s required! Check out the SCT XCalibrator 3 – the perfect tool for the job with Custom Tunes!;;;;The kit is supplied with a stainless steel air box with built-in velocity stack. It mounts in the factory location with the supplied rubber trim to seal it against the hood & fender to keep the hot air out . Our tests showed inlet temps a mere 5 degrees above ambient temperature. The Steeda Lifetime Filter can easily be cleaned and re-oiled, making maintenance a snap. All hardware required for installation is included in the kit.”

2011 Mustang Corsa Exhaust Available

Itching to get your hands on a new exhaust for your 2011 Mustang GT?  Corsa has just released 4 new exhaust components to make your 2011 Mustang sound and perform better.  The exhaust kit comes in two different flavors, including Sport and Extreme, along with individual components like an off-road X-Pipe and mufflers.

The 5.0 Liter Xtreme Corsa Exhaust System features 4″ tips and weighs an amazingly 18lbs lighter than stock.  Furthermore the Corsa Extreme Exhaust for the 2011 Mustang adds up to 7 horsepower and another 4 ft lbs of torque.

Although it doesn’t produce the sound quite like the Flowmaster, which is my favorite, it’s a viable alternative.  Also, if you just want something a little different and want some inexpensive power, check out Corsa.

Video is available of a 2011 Mustang Gt equipped with the Corsa Xtreme Exhaust System, so you can see if the sound is right for your ride.  View the youtube video here.
